Kelly Franklin works as a Research Assistant with the Sewall Lab while pursuing a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology at Temple University. She is passionate about communicating science to a diverse audience, and utilizes written word and illustration to translate challenging biological concepts into captivating stories. Prior to pursuing a graduate education in the sciences, Kelly received a BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a BS in Biology from Temple University. She is interested in a wide range of ecological topics, especially those which address the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystem functionality in the Anthropocene. Through illustrative and written scientific communication, Kelly hopes to expand the public understanding of science and the extraordinary planet on which we live.
